Territories

With Map My Customers, you can define and assign Territories consisting of the Companies records you have added to MMC for yourself and your team.

Currently, you can only create Territories from the Web Map, however, you can layer and view existing territories from Map Layers on mobile. 

This article will walk through the Web functionality of MMC Territories. To learn more about visualizing Territories on the mobile map, see the Layers article here. 

To create a Territory: 

1. Click on "Map" from the Main Navigation Menu
2. Click on the “Territories” button from the Map Navigation on the left side of the Map
   
   
   
   
3. Click on the “Add Territory” button in the top right corner of the pop-up 
4. Enter the name for your Territory in the side panel that appears on the right 
5. Choose a color and opacity that the territory will appear on the map. Use the “​​share records in this territory” toggle to share this territory with Team Member(s) right from the creation panel.
   
   
   
   
6. On the map, use your cursor to click the map and start dropping pins to create the territory bounds. As you drop pins, the Territory boundary lines are established. Double-click or click the first vertex to close the polygon. 
   
   
   
   
7. Select the blue “Create Territory” button on the right side panel to complete creation of your new territory. 

To view existing Territories on the Map:

1. Click on "Map" from the Main Navigation Menu
2. Click on the “Layers” button from the Map Menu on the left side of the Map
   
   
   
   
3. Toggle on “Territories”. Any previously created Territories will now appear on the Map 

Note: When this is toggled on, the Territories icon will appear in the bottom left corner of the screen and you will be able to view the Legend with the name(s) and color(s) of the mapped Territories 

Use the eyeball icon on the right of the Territory name to show and hide specific territories on the map 

To view a specific Territory:

1. Click on "Map" from the Main Navigation Menu
2. Click on the “Territories” button from the Map Navigation on the left side of the Map
3. Select the Territory you would like to open from the pop-up. The Territory will appear on the Map and the List View of records in this Territory will appear in the right side panel.

Note: The color of the pins on the map will reflect the color of the Territory in this view 

To edit a specific Territory:

1. Navigate to the Territory you would like to edit using the “View a specific Territory” directions above
2. On the right side panel, select the blue “Edit Territory” button 
   
   
   
   
3. Use the right-side panel to edit the Territory Name, Color, or Opacity 
4. Put the cursor in the center of the Territory on the Map to grab and move the entire polygon
5. Edit territory bounds by selecting a vertex of the polygon and dragging it to the new desired location 
6. Right-click on vertex to delete from the Territory bounds 

To delete a specific Territory:

1. Navigate to the Territory you would like to edit using the “View a specific Territory” directions above
2. On the right side panel, select the blue “Edit Territory” button 
3. Click the red “Delete this territory” button at the bottom of the side panel and confirm that you would like to complete the deletion
